When the pastors of LifePoint answered God’s call to plant a church in Phoenix, they invited 30 families from Virginia to step out in faith and join them on this journey. Levette and her husband were among those who said yes, embracing the vision and mission with open hearts.
The best way to describe Levette is to say she was like a stranger in a foreign land who somehow made the natives of that land feel welcomed. Sounds a bit unusual, right? But that’s the kind of spirit she has—warm, inviting, and full of grace.
I had the chance to get to know her better over coffee (though, like me, she doesn’t actually drink coffee). Still, we both enjoy exploring coffeehouses, and that simple connection gave me a glimpse into her kind and open-hearted nature.
During our conversation, Levette and I talked about marriage—the ups and downs that come with it—family, ministry, and so much more. One thing that made the connection even more special was discovering (or, rather, confirming) that she’s my Sistergreek! Levette is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated 💗💚🐸, while I’m a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated 💙💛🐩.
I try to live by the rule of not passing judgment on people before truly getting to know them, and I’m so glad I do. Otherwise, I might have missed out on meeting some amazing people—like Levette.
As we chatted, we also enjoyed the cozy ambiance and fresh food at Coldwater. We both ordered their Bollos—mine with egg, cheese, and herbs, and hers with sausage, egg, and cheese. To top it off, we sipped on their house-brewed Jamaica tea, which was a perfect complement to the great food and conversation.
Let’s talk about this Bollo! At first glance, it looks like a simple, warm loaf of bread, but the aroma alone tells you it’s something special—fresh, warm, and absolutely mouthwatering.
The real magic happens when you take a bite. The flavors are incredible, with the quality of the bread perfectly complementing the fresh herbs, cheese, and eggs inside. Don’t let its size fool you, though—it’s deceptively filling!
And let’s not forget the homemade sauce that came with it. It had a spicy kick, so be warned—a little goes a long way. But paired just right, it took an already delicious dish to the next level.
The Jamaica tea was incredibly fresh and refreshing—you could tell it was made with care and intention. It truly felt like the gift that kept on giving. Honestly, I would have taken some to-go, but I decided to leave a little for the other customers 😁.
All in all, I highly recommend Coldwater Coffeehouse and Bakery. Next time, I promise to give their coffee a try! Bear with me, though—tea still has my heart, but I’m working on warming up to coffee.

I would go anywhere with you for another adventure! This post perfectly described our experience at Coldwater. If anyone is looking for a quaint space to work, take a friend, or just stumble upon, Coldwater is your place!
